Members of the Central Kentucky Council for Peace and Justice (CKCPJ) think globally and work locally here in central Kentucky for a world that is more just, free from the scourge of war and more sustainable. A CKCPJ PEACE Leader... feels a passion for peace issues has empathy - social awareness/cultural awareness - a type of "negative capability" is open enough to intuit when seeing something is not right can take risks, be willing to speak out even if those around him/her don't like it practices strategic, effective planning for each activity researches "the other" as well as facts and skills of waging peace works at managing provocation and/or disagreement - plans for it so can "shift the energy" when feelings go sour practices skills such as ... good public speaking listens actively lead/serve as example prioritize activities to meet the needs of those gathered for an action can approach "the other" gently during times of conflict

Nathan Sames   A "preacher's kid" attending Transylvania University; interested in working with the community to wage peace.	Tanya Torp   Tanya grew up an Air Force brat and began to have doubts about war when she saw how it affected her father and other GI's. Passionate about her faith in Christ, she strives for a way to inhabit "Blessed are the peacemakers" in her daily life. Her love for others regardless of race, sexual orientation, or creed has led her to purposefully seek out friendships with those whose beliefs are different and foster dialog focusing more on listening than talking.
