This just in from the Lexington Downtown Development Authority:
Gehl Studio will be back in Lexington to wrap up the Public Space Public Life study. Through pedestrian counts, online surveys, public meetings, and focused stakeholder discussions the team has observed and measured our city center. They have tried to understand where people are going, where they are lingering, and what they are doing. Most importantly, based on this information they questioned how do we make these public spaces and city blocks better and they have proposed pilot projects to explore the small steps we can take toward big change!
You are invited to attend the final public meeting for the Public Space Public Life study.
5:30pm
Parlay Social, 249 W. Short St.
A presentation by Gehl will be followed by an interactive, gallery-style exhibit of their work. Come enjoy happy hour after work and discuss the future of downtown. We look forward to seeing you then. Check out the Facebook event here and please share!
The event is open to all ages & is accessible to people of all abilities.
The Lexington Downtown Development Authority in partnership with the Knight Foundation and Blue Grass Community Foundation engaged Gehl Studio to study ways to enhance Lexington's downtown public spaces. Gehl Studio is part of Copenhagen based Gehl Architects, known for emphasizing "the relationship between the built environment and people's quality of life." Thank you to Urban Land Institute KY for sponsoring Gehl's visit.
